📌 Get off to the right start — make sure that you’re aware of any minimum wage, overtime and other changes that may affect your payroll. 

January 

Jan. 1  — New Year’s Day

Jan. 1 — Payroll Deductions Online Calculator (PDOC) updated

Jan. 3 — New Year’s Day Observed — All banks closed

  • Note: For holidays with bank closures, allow at least one extra business day for direct deposit.

Jan. 4 — Day After New Year’s Day QC — Some banks closed

Jan. 10 — Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Jan. 17 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular remitter payments due
  • Quarterly remitter payments due

Jan. 25 — Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or before the 15th day of the month.)

February

Feb. 2 — Groundhog Day 

Feb. 10 — Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Feb. 14 — Valentine’s Day

Feb. 15 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular remitter payments due

Feb. 21 — Family Day AB, BC, NB, ON, SK | Heritage Day NS | Islander Day PE | Louis Riel Day MB — Some banks closed 

Feb. 25 — Yukon Heritage Day YT — Some banks closed

  • Note: As Yukon Heritage Day is not a national or federal holiday, the Threshold 1 remitter payments are due on Feb. 25.

Feb. 25 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or before the 15th day of the month.)

Feb. 28 — T4, T4A and RL-1 information returns due

Mar. 10 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Mar. 14 — St. Patrick’s Day NL — Some banks closed

  • Regular remitter payments due

Mar. 17 — St. Patrick’s Day (All except NL)

Mar. 25 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or before the 15th day of the month.)

April

Apr. 11 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Apr. 15 — Good Friday (all except QC) — All banks closed

  • Note: For national holidays with bank closures, allow at least one extra business day for direct deposit.

Apr. 17 — Easter Sunday

Apr. 18 — Easter Monday QC — Some banks closed

  • Quarterly tax payments due
  • Regular remitter payments due

  • Personal income tax

May 8 — Mother's Day

May 10 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular remitter payments due

May 23 — Victoria Day AB, BC, MB, NB, NL, NT, NU, ON, SK, YK | National Patriots' Day QC — All banks closed

Jul. 9 — Nunavut Day NU — Some banks closed

Jul. 11 — Orangeman's Day NL — Some banks closed

  • Note: As Orangeman's Day is not a national or federal holiday, the Threshold 1 remitter payments are due on July 11.

Jul. 11 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Jul. 15 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular remitter payments due

August

Aug. 1 — Civic/Provincial Holiday PE, NT, NU | Terry Fox Day MB | New Brunswick Day NB | British Columbia Day BC | Saskatchewan Day SK | Heritage Day AB | Natal Day NS — Some banks closed

Aug. 10 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Aug. 15 — Discovery Day YT — Some banks closed

  • Note: As Discovery Day is not a national or federal holiday, the Regular remitter payments are due on August 15.

Aug. 15 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular remitter payments due

Aug. 25 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or before the 15th day of the month.)

September

Sep. 5 — Labour Day —  All banks closed

Sep. 12 — Payment deadline:

Sep. 15 — Payment deadline:

Sep. 30 — National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — All banks closed

October

Oct. 10 — Thanksgiving Day — All banks closed

  • Note: For holidays and bank closures, allow at least one extra business day for direct deposit.

Oct. 11 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)    

Oct. 17 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular Remitter Payments Due
  • Quarterly Remitter Payments Due
  • Quarterly Tax Payments Due

Oct. 25 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or before the 15th day of the month.)

Oct. 31 — Halloween 

November

Nov. 10 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Nov. 11 — Remembrance Day (All except ON, QC) — Some banks closed

  • Note: For holidays and bank closures, allow at least one extra business day for direct deposit.

Nov. 15 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular remitter payments due

Nov. 25 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or before the 15th day of the month.)

December

Dec. 12 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or after the 16th day of the previous month.)

Dec. 15 — Payment deadline:

  • Regular remitter payments due

Dec. 24 — Christmas Eve

Dec. 25 — Christmas Day

Dec. 26 — Boxing Day

  • Note: Boxing Day is a federal holiday and is listed in the Canadian Labour Code as a holiday. However, it is not uniformly observed in all provinces and territories. It is not an official holiday in Québec, nor is it a statutory holiday in Alberta and British Columbia.

Dec. 26 — Christmas Day Observed — All banks closed 

  • Note: For national holidays with bank closures, allow at least one extra business day for direct deposit.

Dec. 27 — Boxing Day Observed (All except AB, BC, QC) — All banks closed

  • Note: Boxing Day is a statutory holiday in Ontario only, however banks will be closed in all provinces. Wagepoint will also be closed on this day. For national holidays with bank closures, allow at least one extra business day for direct deposit.

Dec. 28 — Payment deadline:

  • Threshold 1 remitter payments due (For payrolls processed on or before the 15th day of the month.)

Dec. 31 — New Year’s Eve
